“Remote Control Helicopters”

I have always had a fascination with aviation, especially the rotary wing type. Since the real thing is out of reach for me financially, I figured the next best thing would be the models. So I took up flying R/C helicopters. R/C helicopters are the most difficult thing to master in the R/C hobby. It takes a tremendous amount of patience and determination to get good at it. It can also be a strain on the wallet if you are not careful. When first starting out, it helps to find a club or person with some experience to get you started. The learning curve is quite large and seems overwhelming at first. But in time things start to make sense. The camaraderie is also a real plus side to this hobby. Like amateur radio, I have made some really good friends. I look forward to every outing to talk about aviation with them. Below are a few photos of myself and a few friends from the club I belong to. Browse around a bit. Enjoy!

How low can you go???

Jon getting ready to mow the grass with his Knight 50! Jon can do some amazing things with his helicopters!

Look, no smoke! A flare just before touch down during an auto rotation. The engine is cut to idle to simulate an engine failure. It does happen sometimes and you need to be prepared!

Walt showing his awesome inverted hovering skills! He can maintain this precision maneuver as long as he wants to! Walt is hands down one of the best in RC aviation. He also has a aerial photography business, skyeyephoto.com , using full size helicopters as well as RC.

Ron flying his turbine helicopter. It is a real kerosene  burning turbine engine. It sounds and smells like the real thing! This is the ultimate in RC helicopters! The canister on each side is for the jet fuel.
